Uncle Roo

Uncle Roo is a personal project that I thought of after I watched (and experienced) a particularly error prone system of idol goods trading. My proposed solution is a resale/auction site that would create a cohesive and organized experience for both sellers and buyers.

The Problem

The current community for sales and auctions are a messy conglomerate of Facebook posts and Google documents. Sales are often lost track of and the disorganization makes it hard for people to even find what they want to buy.

Another issue that often occurred was that of accountability. People would offer to buy or sell things, come upon an agreement, and then disappear. Because this was all taking place in a facebook group, there wasn’t much that could be done in either repercussions or prevention of such behavior.

The idea

Create an organized site, akin to eBAY, but also include functionalities that work specifically for the market, like group orders. Make it easy for users to search for what they want and users they want to buy from. With account authentication, buying and selling would no longer need the manual authorization that people need currently, and users would be held accountable for their agreements with others.

Because it’s a community I’m a part of myself, I think the niche functionalities are what will really make this unique and not just another auction site.
